Sciatica & Back Pain
Lower back pain and sciatica often involve muscular tension, nerve irritation and referred pain patterns.

Sciatica and chronic lower back pain are extremely common. Quite often the pain is caused by overly tight muscles (especially in the lower back, glutes and piriformis) that compress or irritate the sciatic nerve. These tight muscles can also create strong pain referral patterns that closely mimic true sciatic nerve pain radiating down the leg.
Importantly, just because an MRI shows a disc bulge does not guarantee that the bulge is the actual cause of the pain. Many people have disc bulges with no pain at all, while others have severe pain with minimal or no visible disc changes. This means the pain can be coming from muscular and neuromuscular sources elsewhere — areas that are often more responsive to targeted treatment.
Our approach to sciatica & back pain
Trigger Point & Dry Needling
Tight muscles and active trigger points in the lower back, glutes and piriformis frequently compress or irritate the sciatic nerve. Dry needling has shown to be effective at releasing these points, often bringing surprisingly fast relief that patients describe as feeling almost magical when the nerve pressure is reduced.
Motor Point Needling with Electrostimulation
Chronic back pain and sciatica commonly involve inhibited deep stabilising muscles. Motor point needling with gentle electrostimulation may be highly beneficial for resetting neuromuscular communication, restoring proper muscle activation and reducing compensatory tension that keeps the pain cycle active.
60W High Intensity Laser Therapy
When inflammation or nerve irritation is involved, our 60W Class IV laser can penetrate deep into the tissues to support cellular repair and reduce inflammation at a biochemical level. It has shown promise in stubborn cases where pain persists despite other approaches.
What to expect
Many patients notice a meaningful reduction in leg pain and improved mobility within the first few sessions, particularly when muscular compression of the nerve is a major factor. The total number of treatments needed varies depending on how long the issue has been present. Dr. Truth will give you a clear, personalised assessment during your initial consultation.
